CQM Marquee Hire For TV & Filming – Frequently Asked Questions
What size of marquee structure is appropriate and what can CQM can provide?
In our experience there’s no one size fits all approach here. The space and layout required within the marquee structure will often depend on nature of use and requirements for make-up, wardrobe, extras, catering and so on. From the offset, we’ll aim to consult with location managers and fully understand the requirements for each party. We can make use of our 2D and 3D Layout Design tools to aid the process and ensure correct allocation of space.
At CQM we stock structures from 6m wide to 15m wide and can build on any length. Just as important is our ability to floor our structures properly. We will often recommend use of our close boarded timber floor system to provide a cavity for drainage and solid level surface. If required, we can build on sub-frame for sites which are not level.
How long can I hire the marquee for?
We can provide structures for a number of days weeks or months. We can also provide semi-permanent structures and have experience when providing these structures for longer periods, if required. If the structure is to be installed for a longer period or operated during winter months, careful consideration should be given to wind load ratings. Our structures are engineered to cope with demanding conditions and offer the highest wind load ratings available. If installing for prolonged period, we’ll provide a wind management plan in advance.
Do you provide heating?
We stock a range of indirect oil fired heaters which range from 32KW – 85KW to suit each size of structure. If suitable power requirements we can also install electric 22KW heaters for make up and costume. We can provide internal thermostat control and airflow distribution kits to ensure temperature is controlled at a constant level throughout the structure. We’ll provide heaters with loaded fuel tanks but if fuel bowser is not available on site we can run from bundled bulk tanks to ensure constant supply.
Do you provide Lighting?
Yes, we stock various LED strip lights, outdoor rated festoon lighting and flood lights where required. We can assist with the provision of flood light towers if night time filming is anticipated out doors.
Are you able to provide partitions and doors?
Yes, we often provide a number of doors and exit points depending on the size of structure and set requirements.
For space separation, we can provide full width (6m -15m) internal partitions at any point within the structure. We can also incorporate internal doors between sections to reduce pollution or maintain heat. For example, separation of catering and wardrobe areas. To separate space within a certain areas such as changing or prep for extras, we can create separate spaces and drape with internal linings on wire.
Do you provide generator and power hire?
We don’t operate or own fleet of generators. But we do work closely with a number of third party generator hire companies and are capable of coordinating this aspect, if needed. We’d any event, we’d typically recommend suppliers and liaise with the supplier to ensure adequate provision of power and distribution within the structure.
